Not much is known about the 37-year-old man's life, either before or after the double murder in 2004. He has previously been punished and for 16 years he stayed away from the police, despite the authority's careful investigative work.

- He has not distinguished himself in any way and he does not appear in any of our records either before or after 2004. He has lived a lonely life what I understand with parents and a brother who has largely been the social circle he had, says Henrik Jansén to SVT News East.

Unclear motive

In connection with the man's arrest, the question of motives has been raised. Many people wonder why eight-year-old boy Mohammed Ammouri and language teacher Anna-Lena Svensson were killed that October morning 16 years ago.

- There is an explanation that he has given in his interrogation as to why it became this way. But because of preliminary investigation confidentiality, I do not want to go into any details, says preliminary investigator Britt-Louise Viklund.
