Mallorca is considered the 17th German region. This shows the importance of the Spanish island for German tourists. The return, next week, of the first German visitors is therefore the symbol of the freedom to travel found, at least for 31 European countries.

The Council of Ministers lifted the restrictions on June 10. Spain certainly still imposes a quarantine of two weeks on people arriving in the country. However, an exception has been made for Mallorca and the Balearic Islands for German tourists, due to the comparable epidemiological situation between these areas.

It is also Monday June 15 that the land controls at the German borders with certain countries including France will disappear. They are no longer systematic. However, only the transport of goods, frontier workers and people with an important reason are normally allowed to cross these borders.

The German government, however, has decided to extend travel warnings to more than 160 non-European countries until the end of August. Exceptions may be made, however, if the rates of infection and measures against the coronavirus pandemic are deemed satisfactory. People arriving from these countries will have to undergo a quarantine of two weeks.
