The Community of Madrid will not request the advance pass to Phase 3 of the confinement de-escalation from next Monday. This has been decided this Wednesday by the Governing Council, as EL MUNDO has learned and has subsequently confirmed the autonomous vice president, Ignacio Aguado, at a press conference.

According to the spokesman for the team of Isabel Díaz Ayuso, this decision has been adopted because on June 21 "the state of alarm will decline" and the autonomies "will assume full powers . " However, he has specified that the possibility of authorizing the movement of citizens to other regions will depend on the central executive.

Although Madrid remains two weeks in Phase 2, which premiered this Monday, at Puerta del Sol they do not rule out asking the Ministry of Health for flexibility measures of the restrictions currently in force. However, at the moment it has not been specified which ones.

What the regional government does have is its position regarding not precipitating the opening of discotheques and cocktail bars from June 21. "We are concerned that the return to normality may be truncated because there may be outbreaks" , Aguado has justified, although he has specified that in any case the decision will correspond to Public Health.

The Health Minister, Enrique Ruiz Escudero, had pointed out earlier this week that if the evolution of the coronavirus in the region continued to be favorable, the Community of Madrid would request an early jump to the third level of lack of confidence. According to the latest balance, in 24 hours there have been three deaths in hospitals and 48 new infections have been registered, the lowest figures since the peak of the pandemic was reached.

"On the two previous occasions in which we have requested the pass or at least the incorporation of certain measures, we have been denied that option," said Aguado. "We will be in Phase 2 for 14 days, which is what the government wants us to do," said Aguado, a position that contrasts with the energetic stance of previous weeks to accelerate the process.
