One of the longest-running US programs. In 1993 he won the TV award
Cops is an American television program in the form of a documentary that follows police officers during normal patrol or other activities. It is one of the longest running US programs; it is also the second longest-running program on the Fox network. It was created by John Langley and Malcolm Barbour and first aired on Saturday 11 March 1989. It only included 750 episodes until March 21, 2009, winning the US television award in 1993 and earning four Emmy Awards nominations.

The show followed officers from 140 different cities in the United States, and was also filmed in Hong Kong, London and the former Soviet Union. Each episode lasts approximately 20 minutes, and usually consists of three segments. The program is well known for its theme song, Bad Boys, performed by the Inner Circle reggae band.

After more than 30 years patrolling the airwaves, "Cops" has been canceled.

The police show, which originated on Fox in 1989, had been pulled days before its scheduled season premiere, an action that came amid questions and protests about policing. https://t.co/I8Y1yfwpFK
