SVT has spoken to several regions saying that the desire to start testing wider from June 13 is a message they received through the media and that they have not seen the requirement in any official guidelines yet. There are also several regions that say they are ready to get started.

Emma Spak is Head of Section for Healthcare at Sweden's Municipalities and Regions, SKR.

- I do not think that regions are acting on what is said at a press conference, but it must be clearer. You want to see what the recommendation from the expert authority looks like so you have something to relate to.

Negotiations are not ready

She says there is still uncertainty about how responsibility and money should be distributed.

- What is going on right now is a negotiation with the government regarding testing, so you should be able to clarify the reimbursements regarding testing, she says and continues:

Social Minister Lena Hallengren (S) believes that the work is under way to clarify the financial framework that SKR can relate to.

- We want to make a point for the ambiguities that exist, Hallengren greets SVT via his press secretary.

Bolund says it's clear

The goal in Sweden of testing 100,000 people a week has not been achieved. Last week, the government announced that it will allocate an additional SEK 5.9 billion, in addition to the billion already decided, for large-scale testing and infection detection.

The following day, the Director General of the Public Health Authority told us that the ambition is that anyone with symptoms of covid-19 should be able to test themselves from the time travel restrictions were lifted on June 13.

The Public Health Agency

SVT has applied for an interview with the Public Health Authority, but has only received written comments from Karin Tegmark Wisell, Head of Department at FHM:

“We have a constructive dialogue with SKR within our government mission to rapidly increase the number of tests for covid-19. In order to facilitate dialogue with the regions and relevant stakeholders, we have built a website for extended testing. " , writes Wisell and continues:

"On this site you will find documentation on the testing, including guidance and support."
