Moscow Tagansky Court sent actor Mikhail Efremov under house arrest for two months. Now, investigators understand the circumstances of a fatal accident involving a 56-year-old honored artist of Russia. In the evening of June 8, in the Smolenskaya Square area on the Garden Ring, the actor drove into the oncoming lane and rammed a small van at the Lada base.
From a collision with a 2.5-ton SUV, the domestic van received severe body damage.
Its driver, a 57-year-old employee of Delikateska.ruSergei Zakharov, who received multiple injuries, died in the intensive care unit of the Sklifosofsky Research Institute on the morning of June 9.
Security cameras recorded a collision that occurred at 21:44 on the inside of the Garden Ring. The footage shows how the 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland, which was controlled by Efremov, moved along the second lane to the left of the dividing line. In the place where the road bent, and it was necessary to turn to the right, the SUV continued straight ahead, and, quickly finding itself in the oncoming lane, rammed Lada in the forehead.
Judging by the video, Efremov, who was in the cabin alone, did not even try to slow down before the collision - the brake lights on the Jeep did not light up before the collision.
Efremov’s behavior immediately after the accident was removed by several eyewitnesses. “Surely no one died?” Exactly? ”, The actor asked others, with difficulty keeping his feet.
Autoexperts interviewed by RT, having analyzed the accident video and driver behavior, came to the conclusion that Efremov most likely fell asleep at the wheel just before the collision.
The artist himself, who was in a state of extreme intoxication at the time of the accident, did not give evidence for about a day. After the accident, he was sent for a medical examination, but they did not detain him and let him go home, but in the morning he did not come for interrogation.
In the afternoon, the police and medical teams, including a psychiatric ambulance, were at the house in Kazamenny Lane, where Efremov spent the night, but they did not begin to hospitalize the artist.
Recall, after it became known about the death of Zakharov, the investigators retrained the criminal case brought after the accident, in Part 4 of Art. 264 of the Criminal Code.
Last year, the State Duma significantly tightened the sentence for all criminal convictions relating to serious accidents involving drunk drivers and now, under this article, the perpetrator faces 5 to 12 years in prison.
Meanwhile, a number of well-known lawyers, in particular Alexander Dobrovinsky, whom the Efremov family tried to hire, refused to defend him.
Alcohol, Cocaine, Cannabioids
According to a medical examination published on Tuesday night by the Telegram channel “112”, one hour 45 minutes after the accident, the breathalyzer showed Efremov first 1.05 mg of ethanol per liter of exhaled air (which is equivalent to 2.33 ppm of blood alcohol, middle stage - RT), and after 17 minutes with a mandatory second attempt, the same device showed already 1.23 mg / l (2.73 ppm, strong stage).
According to the law, an attempt with the best result for the driver is taken into account, however, why the second test showed more significant intoxication remains unclear.
Also, during the study, residual traces of cocaine and cannabioids, as well as traces of sleeping pills zopiclone were found in the body of Efremov.
During the examination, the doctor noted that Efremov had no visible signs of damage in the accident, there were no traces of injections, while he was untidy dressed and had a smell of alcohol from his mouth.
Assessing the behavior of the Jeep driver, the doctor notes that he is "inhibited, talkative, emotionally unstable, euphoric, in conflict with the police."
In addition, Efremov revealed a “shaky, uncertain” gait, his mobility was reduced, and he was unable to perform medical tests. In conclusion, it is noted that the artist does not deny the fact of drinking alcohol.
Before the accident, the actor, according to media reports, spent time in one of the bars, which, formally, due to quarantine restrictions, did not have the right to serve clients indoors and had to work only “take-away”.
Journalists of the 360 channel tracked the entire route of Efremov through video surveillance cameras before a fatal accident. On Monday evening, Jeep Efremova was in the courtyard of the Bolshoi Mogiltsevsky Lane - next to the artist’s house in Plotnikov Lane. Then the actor went to Glazovsky Lane, and from there went to the Garden Ring.
At the same time, leaving on Smolensky Boulevard, Efremov almost made a serious accident, cutting another car. In total, before the collision Efremov traveled about 2.5 kilometers.

The deceased Sergey Zakharov was from the Ryazan region. On Tuesday morning, the company where he worked expressed condolences to his family.

According to her, now the family is organizing the funeral, which will be held in the Ryazan region.

The capital’s prosecutor’s office on Tuesday announced that it would take control of the investigation into the circumstances of the case, and at the same time assess the past traffic accidents and administrative violations of Efremov, as well as analyze the measures taken by the employees.
According to media reports, from the beginning of 2020 Efremov was held administratively liable for traffic violations 10 times. Previously, the actor was punished six times for late payment of fines.
Telegram channel Mash notes that for two years Efremov received 29 penalties in the amount of 81 thousand rubles, mainly for non-payment of parking, and did not always pay them on time. In all cases, he avoided a possible arrest of 15 days for non-payment of fines and escaped with additional monetary punishment.
In addition, the actor was already in an accident. So, on the night of August 9, 2009 on his Mercedes on Yauzskaya Street in the vicinity of the Astakhov bridge rammed Ford, in which there were two people. Eyewitnesses then claimed that Efremov at the time of the accident may have been drunk.
Nevertheless, the police officers who registered the accident, indicating him as the culprit of the incident, wrote him only a fine for speeding and made an oral warning to be careful on the road.
Later, Efremov and his relatives denied the information about the accident, calling it a "journalistic duck."
“I was very worried about this news, but now I talked with Misha, and he reassured me: there was nothing. In general, it would be better for journalists to write less about this - God forbid, you can still get it ... "- said Efremov’s wife to Komsomolskaya Pravda.

The accident on the Garden Ring was commented on by a number of State Duma deputies, including speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, who noted that a drunken ride is unacceptable, no matter who is behind the wheel.
Deputy Vyacheslav Lysakov, known for a number of "automobile" bills, including those related to "drunken driving," told RT that the tragedy was not a reason to further tighten liability for drunken accidents with grave consequences, as it is already very serious and actually equated to intentional killing.

“We have already come to the extreme line of punishment. It remains only to introduce the execution on the spot, ”he said, recalling that relatively recently, those who had fled the scene of the accident began to be equated with drunk drivers.
The deputy also said that he is preparing new amendments to tighten the liability for those who get into serious accidents in a drunken state, being already deprived of their rights or not having them at all.
“It’s one thing when there are rights and an accident has been committed. This is indeed an unintentional action. Another thing is if there are no rights or not. This means that the driver, while driving, initially and deliberately endangers others. You need to ask stricter for this, ”he said.
Deputy Vasily Piskaryov noted that if the court establishes Efremov’s guilt, then the punishment for him should be “the most severe”.
“The court, of course, must admit the ultimate guilt, now the investigation is underway, but if it confirms that Mikhail Efremov was drunk and that a person died through his fault, then the punishment for such an accident should be the most severe. The law is the same for everyone, ”the State Duma website quotes him.
Recalling last year's tightening of criminal penalties for drunk drivers, Piskaryov added that he considered this decision justified.
“These are absolutely fair and justified measures, because the statistics were disappointing - every year more than 4 thousand people died under the wheels of drunk drivers and more than 20 thousand became disabled. These are the broken fates of people and their loved ones, ”the parliamentarian emphasized.”
A member of the Public Chamber, the head of “Sober Russia” Sultan Khamzaev also called for “harsh and indicative” punishment of Efremov. He also believes that the actor should undergo a rehabilitation course.
