China has rejected research by Harvard Medical School indicating that the emerging corona virus may have spread to China in August last year, based on satellite imagery of hospital admission and exit patterns and search engine data.

China described the study as ridiculous, and scientists said it did not provide convincing evidence of when the outbreak began.

The research, which was not subject to review by other scientists, used satellite images of parking spaces in Wuhan, where the virus first appeared in late 2019, and Internet search data for symptoms related to the disease, such as cough and diarrhea.

The authors said the increased frequency for hospitals and the search for symptoms on search engines in Wuhan preceded the documented start of the Corona pandemic in December 2019.

As for Tunisia, it was not recorded, for the sixth consecutive day, that any virus was infected, so that the total number of infected people remained at 1087.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Health, the country recorded a total of 982 recoveries from the virus, and the deaths stabilized at 49.

In Jordan, the Ministry of Health announced the registration of 14 injuries, in addition to the recovery of 30 cases, which raises the total injuries to 845, of which 9 deaths, and 657 cases of recovery.

For its part, the Sudanese Ministry of Health announced, in a statement, 13 deaths and 161 cases of corona.

The ministry said that the number of injuries rose to 6,242, including 372 deaths, two thousand and 59 recoveries.

Global food crisis
 On the other hand, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, warned on Tuesday that 49 million people in the world will fall in "extreme poverty" this year due to the consequences of the Corona virus.

He also warned of a "global food crisis" with long-term consequences for "hundreds of millions of children and adults" if no efforts were made to mitigate the consequences of the Covid-19 epidemic.

Guterres said in a statement issued in conjunction with a United Nations study, "Our food systems are no longer functioning and the pandemic has benefited the situation."

He added that about 144 million children under the age of five are stunted, that is, more than one child out of five in the world, adding, "This year, an additional 49 million people may become in the category of extreme poverty due to the crisis" resulting from the outbreak of the new Corona virus.
