“We have had these thoughts for a long time. We constantly talk about the fact that the minimum wage is too small, especially in conditions when a huge number of people have switched to a remote workplace ... Due to the fact that today the situation, due to the consequences of coronavirus, is so complicated, millions of people are in limbo. That is, they may have legally lost their jobs, but, nevertheless, they continue to work without any formalization, or as self-employed, some were transferred from their salaries to the “minimum wage” and so on, ”Svintsov explained.

He noted that in such conditions, in order for the employee to have more protected rights, it is proposed to make a minimum hourly wage.

“Because if you break the current minimum wage by the hourly, it turns out that it depends on the region: from 60 to 90 rubles. We believe that this is extremely small. If we nevertheless establish a minimum hourly wage, then the employee will be protected and will receive a more honest wage in less hours, ”the deputy concluded.

Earlier it was reported that State Duma deputies from the LDPR Yaroslav Nilov, Igor Lebedev, Alexei Didenko, Andrei Svintsov and Senator Sergey Leonov have developed a bill introducing a minimum hourly wage in Russia.

According to the initiative, it will be applied when concluding a fixed-term contract on a part-time basis.
