China News Service, June 8. According to Kyodo News, on June 7, local time, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism finalized a policy to support the construction of disaster prevention and evacuation facilities by local governments in order to prepare for the largest level of disasters.

According to reports, after the revision of Japan’s 2015 Water Defence Law, it is assumed that the set conditions for flooding caused by flooding in rivers are strictly to “one-thousand-year” rainfall. Based on the results of this plan, the municipal government of Japan will update the disaster prevention map for residents, and the evacuation routes and evacuation points recorded on the map need to be re-examined.

According to the above-mentioned latest plan, the local government of Japan will support the reconstruction of public facilities such as stadiums and public halls for use as evacuation points, or the reconstruction of facilities already designated as evacuation points.

On the other hand, the Japanese government announced in April 2020 that the tsunami was flooded by an earthquake along the Japan Trench and the Thousand Islands Trench from Northeast to Hokkaido Pacific. Correspondingly, the Japanese central government will also support local governments to increase the height of tsunami refuge towers as emergency evacuation points, and improve new evacuation routes to high grounds. Projects aimed at preventing and controlling infectious diseases will also be included in the scope of support.
