Rugby teams in New Zealand started the final preparations to resume professional competitions next Saturday, which will witness the first return of fans to sporting events, since the professional competitions stopped around the world due to the Corona virus epidemic.

New Zealand Prime Minister Gassinda Ardern announced the lifting of all restrictions on the size of gatherings and physical distance, as of Monday, which allows fans to return in large numbers.

There will be no restrictions on the number of fans attending the resumption of the Super Rugby League "Aotearoa" competition from next Saturday, as announced by the Rugby Federation in New Zealand through a statement.

The union's CEO Mark Robinson said lifting the restrictions was great news for sport.

"We are very proud and grateful that we are the first professional sports competition in the world to witness the participation of teams among their fans again."
