In an interview with the newspaper Le Parisien, Marlène Schiappa talks about her interest in a ministry extended to the Family and proposes new measures. One of them, the "sick parent leave", received a moderately enthusiastic reception from carers.

Could Marlène Schiappa occupy an extended ministry to the family? While rumors about a reshuffle are rife, the Secretary of State responsible for equality between women and men and the fight against discrimination says she is ready. In an interview with the newspaper Le Parisien , she says she wants to "do more" and proposes new measures which are for the moment only her own food for thought.

Two new leaves and an extension of paternity leave

The Secretary of State thus proposes to extend the leave for young fathers from 18 days to one month. It also suggests the creation of two new family leaves. One to allow grandparents who are still working to take some time to take care of their grandchildren on time. The other, a short "sick parent's leave", lasting three days, to help, for example, his father or mother entering his nursing home, after a fractured femoral neck or infection with a virus.

Questioned by Europe 1, Claudie Kulak, president of the Company of the assistants, expresses some reservations and would prefer, it, that the government first confirms the planned vacation. "We are delighted if Marlène Schiappa is interested in this subject of course. We just remind the government that, last year, the Prime Minister launched his 'Act for carers' plan, which normally must be implemented application from October 2020. " A plan "in which there is a caregiver leave, compensated, three months during your professional career and renewable once. It is little but it is already a start, so let's go".
