Film and television filming will resume in California on June 12, the governor's office said on Friday, noting that they would remain subject to strict sanitary measures.

The productions must however be previously authorized by the health officials of the counties concerned, stipulate the services of the governor of California. "Local epidemiological data", the results of population tests and the ability to cope with a new wave of coronavirus cases should in particular be taken into account.

"To reduce the risk of transmission of Covid-19, production teams, actors and other professionals in the sector will have to comply with security protocols" which may be further reinforced by local authorities, adds the text.

In California, the cameras have been gathering dust since mid-March, the instructions for social distancing do not mix well with the bloated crews mobilized on film sets that are sometimes cramped.

Nothing says, however, that the major Hollywood studios will be able to relaunch productions from next week because Los Angeles and its region are one of the main centers of Covid-19 in the state, with about half of the cases and deaths recorded. .

To date, more than 125,000 cases and 4,500 deaths have been confirmed in California.
