Spoons are not entirely uncommon in Norway, but parts of Sweden also have an increased risk. Areas where the soil contains large amounts of so-called mercury are most vulnerable. This is stated by Anna Hedenström, Head of Unit Planning for Earth at Sweden's Geological Survey (SGU).
On Wednesday afternoon a heavy landslide occurred at the Kråkeneset in Alta, Norway. No human was injured, but several houses drifted into the water and were swallowed by the sea.
- These are areas that, after the inland ice 10,000 years ago, have been covered by water, says Anna Hedenström, Head of Unit at SGU.
