Documents and correspondence published by the US Department of Justice showed a violation of the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) by agencies that produced a documentary against Qatar in 2017.

This correspondence revealed that part of the film's production costs were paid to an intermediary production company through another Emirates-based company.

The correspondence stated that this company produced projects for the benefit of the Emirati Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It also revealed the company's contribution in providing consulting services regarding the content of the documentary and financing its advertising campaign.

The American newspaper Daily Best revealed that a former Pentagon employee specializing in propaganda operations was behind the production of a propaganda film against Qatar in the United States with Emirati funding.

The film - which spread to American media and websites - was produced with the outbreak of the Gulf crisis, with the aim of promoting allegations of Doha's role in supporting terrorism.
