In a meeting with Al-Jazeera, the third anniversary of the blockade of his country, Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al-Thani said that there is an initiative proposed to resolve the crisis with the blockading countries.

The minister stressed that the atmosphere is positive on this initiative, hoping that it will result in steps other than what happened last year.

Sheikh Muhammad said that they are open to dialogue, "and whoever takes a step, we advance ten, provided that they are serious and honest," despite the siege countries using social media platforms to mobilize public opinion against the State of Qatar.

He also pointed out that the dialogue with Saudi Arabia at the end of last year was positive "but he stopped without knowing the reasons, and we hope that the new initiative differs from its predecessors and we find seriousness in dealing with the Kuwait initiative."

On the Cooperation Council, the Foreign Minister said that Qatar is keen on the unity of the Council, regardless of what happened, and the blockade has damaged its reputation, especially since "the region is living a hot period and wisdom must be found in solutions to ensure the situation does not explode."

Today marks the third anniversary of the blockade imposed on Doha by three Gulf countries (Saudi Arabia, the Emirates and Bahrain) and Egypt, where the blockade started after the penetration of the Qatar News Agency and the publication of fabricated statements attributed to Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar.

Doha says the blockade imposed on it is continuing and continuing with illegal practices, despite the deafening of allegations made by the blockading countries.

Kuwaiti mediation
earlier, stated in Bloomberg Agency that Kuwait is leading new mediation efforts to resolve the Gulf crisis, according to a proposal submitted by the US administration, stipulating that both Saudi Arabia and the UAE lift the air embargo imposed on Qatar Airways flights.

The opening of Emirati and Saudi airspace to Qatar Airways is primarily an American proposal - according to Bloomberg - and it was put forward several months ago, but Kuwait is working on reaching it now in the form of a Saudi-Qatari agreement.

The agency quoted the Wall Street Journal that US President Donald Trump personally pressured Saudi leaders to end air restrictions imposed on Qatar, after Washington's efforts to reach a comprehensive agreement on the siege crisis failed.

Bloomberg played down the chances of success of these efforts, noting that he has not communicated directly with a Qatari Saudi since the collapse of the talks between the two parties at the end of last year.
