The global mobilization against xenophobia and racial violence encourages companies to position themselves. Lego, the Danish plastic brick giant, announced on Thursday its decision to fight racism through donations of $ 4 million.

The identity of the beneficiaries not specified

These donations are intended “for American organizations (…) which support black children and others (associations) which educate all children to tolerance and equality”, explained the group in a press release, without however specifying the identity of the beneficiaries. At a time when tens of thousands of people are demonstrating against racial violence in the United States and around the world after the death of George Floyd, Lego stressed that he was "alongside the black community to fight against racism and l 'inequality'.

The toy giant also recalled that inclusion is one of its fundamental values. "Our mission is to inspire and develop the builders of the world of tomorrow, and that includes encouraging them to be tolerant, inclusive and kind," insisted the group.

In 2019, 25% of the group's profits were allocated to the Lego foundation, which works in particular for children in distress. In the United States, Lego has announced that it has temporarily suspended all online advertising, but it should resume in the coming days.
