“Now we are working on a rifle and a cartridge with a record range of 6-7 km and confident shooting - 3 km,” he told RIA Novosti.
According to him, there were no such rifles in the world market of sniper weapons.
Lobaev noted that several technological know-how will be incorporated into the cartridge, allowing to fire at such a distance.
The preliminary name of the project is DXL-5. It is planned that it will be completed at the beginning of 2021, however, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the exact dates are difficult to name.
Currently, the most long-range rifle is the Twilight. It strikes targets at a distance of 2.5 km with confident shooting and 4.2 km with a record.
