05 June 2020The assets for one million euros - including seven prized carriages and carriages - of two pluri-prejudiced, detained as convicted by a final sentence for mafia association, are placed under seizure, on the order of the section of the Court of Catania They are Salvatore Amato, 65 years old, and Francesco Scuderi, 33 years old. The first, called "Turi Amato", a historical figure belonging to the "Santapaola-Herculaneum" mafia organization, in which he has always held top roles, also thanks to the relationship with the family of the boss Benedetto Santapaola, having married his cousin Grazia Santapaola (Blood Mafia blue). Amato, mainly devoted to drug trafficking and extortion, has long been the manager of the "Ottantapalmi" group, operating in the San Cristoforo district. The second, called "U niculittu", is the son-in-law of Salvatore Amato, already under special surveillance with an obligation to stay and with several final convictions also for trafficking in drugs. The patrimonial investigations, focused in the period between 1980 and 2019, made it possible to ascertain the disproportion of the assets in their availability compared to the income capacity and the relative family unit. The Prevention Court, on the basis of the investigative elements collected by the working group of the Anti-Crime Police Division and the Mobile Squad, in close connection with the power of attorney, which flowed into the request signed by the Quaestor and Catania prosecutor, ordered the finalized seizure of prevention the confiscation of nine real estate properties, including 5 apartments all in via Belfiore, 2 houses in via Vetrano, one more apartment in via Belfiore and an urban area in via Ferrera where, once upon a time, there was a stable, 2 motor vehicles and 5 cars of small / medium engine size, a car rental company, Nicu Car srl, and various financial relationships, for an estimated value of one million euros.

A singular aspect highlighted during the operations, the expensive and flashy furnishings of the seized apartments, in addition to the unusual presence of seven carriages and valuable carriages that were found inside some rooms subject to the seizure.
