The 2020-21 Elite Championship fiscal year is slated to begin the weekend of September 26-27, the National Basketball League announced Friday, after opting for a white 2019-20 season in late May due to the long hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"Regarding the resumption of competitions for the 2020-21 season, the Steering Committee decided to work on a resumption hypothesis during the last weekend of September, so as to ensure optimal preparation of the players and to have more visibility on the conditions of 'public access to theaters,' said the LNB in a statement.

Meeting in videoconference, the League Committee also set up two commissions.

The sanitary one responsible for informing the decisions of the Steering Committee in the event of a new epidemic episode next season.

The other called "Ranking Committee" which will have to propose "a club ranking index based on a rolling history of three seasons, making it possible to carry out, if necessary, certain arbitrations, in particular related to the fixing of a prize list (in case by example, a new season break) or other dilemmas. "

In addition, the LNB has decided to open disciplinary proceedings after remarks deemed "defamatory" by the club of Blois, leader of Pro B before the interruption of the 2019-20 season. Its president Paul Seignolle and its general manager Julien Monclar had criticized the vote for a white season.
