The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that an air strike launched by Israel on the countryside of Hama Governorate, located in northwestern Syria, late Thursday night, killed at least nine people.

The official Syrian news agency, SANA, reported that the Israeli "aggression" targeted the area outside the city of Sayaf. A Syrian military source said that loud explosions were heard.

The London-based Syrian Observatory said that four Syrians were among the dead. It is not yet known whether they are members of the Syrian government forces or Iranian militias.

The observatory added that the death toll is likely to rise, as others are injured and their condition is serious.

He said that the attack destroyed weapons depots in Al-Zawy countryside in Sayyaf countryside, west of Hama.

The director of the observatory, Rami Abdel Rahman, revealed that the raids targeted the defense factories and a scientific center for the manufacture of short-range surface-to-surface missiles in the Masyaf area.

He pointed out that the targeted area is "under the control of the Syrian army and has a presence for the Iranians."
