Currently, there are 21 defense ministers in 159 countries in the world, including Italy, the beautiful and small Maldives, and finally Lebanon, but it also includes seven of the 30 members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

Women all over the world have managed to break into the stronghold of strong males, to prove their worth in this field. Military issues that were considered to be the prerogatives of men are now being delivered to capable and informed women who have the strength and minds to manage forces, understand their needs, and ensure state security as a top priority. Traditionally, a man has held this position, but recently the trend has changed, and women have been given the opportunity to play this role in the most efficient way.

Among these women are: South African Defense Minister, Nossifyue Mabisa Nacakula, June 2012. France, Florence Barley, June 2017. Germany, Ingrat Krump Karnbauer July 2019. The Netherlands, You are Bielefeld, October 2017. Austria, Claudia Tanner, January 2020. Spain, Margarita Robleson 2018, Yusra Viola Amher, 2019. Australia, Linda Reynolds, May 2019. Denmark, Tren Bramson, June 2019. Bangladesh, Sheikha Hasina, January 2009. Nicaragua, Marta Elena Ruiz Sivia, March 2013. Kenya, Richella Umamu, May 2013. Bosnia and Herzegovina, Arena Bendes, February 2015. Northern Macedonia, Radmila Sekirinska, June 2017. Albania Olta Chaska, September 2017. Central Africa, Mary Noel Coyara, September 2017. Maldives, Maria Ahmed Didi September 2017. Gabon, Rose Christian Raponda , February 2019. Solomon Islands, Lanel Tanangada, April 2019. Lebanon, Zina Aker, January 2020

The effectiveness of armies

Some of these women control the largest defense budgets in Europe. Will the nature and effectiveness of armies to defend their countries improve if a gender balance occurs? This was the basic theory that had been pressing for the internal and external patterns of armies around the world over the past 40 years. This revolutionary move marks the gender challenge in one of the most male-dominated sectors on the planet.

For some armies, such as the United Kingdom and the United States, women are allowed to join the army according to the male model, and this approach is described as true equality. The truth is that these organizations accept women, as long as they are willing to be as men as possible.

Prominent example

Norway provides a very prominent example of this female military approach, by training a group of female commandos called "Gigrtropin" (the power of the hunter). Norway was one of the first NATO countries to allow women to join combat forces in the mid-1980s. Since 2014 her elite have trained commandos in separate groups, by gender. Here, women are required to achieve the same physical standards as men, but they have been more successful in doing this when they train separately from men.

France, for example, is seeking to achieve gender balance in this area (unusually). One of the most important accomplishments in this field for President Emmanuel Macron was his appointment of Florence Barley, Minister of Defense, who restored the president's path to achieving gender balance. France is proud to have the fourth largest female army in the world.

The Canadian Armed Forces have done what is known to defy the existing material standards, which is a largely sacred subject in military circles. The commander in charge of the training center explained that "the changes take place because the nature of the war has changed," and that the world gave up the soldiers traveling 13 km on foot, which led to a redefinition of the training. Unlike the Norwegians, who train women on male standards, Canadians have used the changing nature of warfare to research and redefine the most universal and optimal fitness regimens in the context of the 21st century, including physical and mental health.
