- Candidates for the second round of municipal elections had to submit their list before Tuesday evening.
- In the Alpes-Maritimes, alliances to influence the final result in Menton, Théoule-Sur-Mer and Saint-Paul-de-Vence.
For Cannes, Antibes, Grasse or Villeneuve-Loubet, it's already folded. The leavers had no trouble piling up in the first round. For Nice and the 31 other French Riviera municipalities which are still looking for a mayor, the lists were tabled on Tuesday. What alliances could still influence the final result of municipal elections, that of the second round scheduled for June 28?
A duel with a trio in Menton
Eyes first turn to Menton. In the city of lemons, where Jean-Claude Guibal (LR, 45.05%), in office for thirty-one years, distance of 15 points Olivier Bettati (29.52%), the suspense went up a notch. The former first assistant of Christian Estrosi in Nice, member of the CNIP and supported by the RN, announced the rallying of Patrice Novelli.

- UDI (@UDI_off) June 2, 2020The candidate labeled UDI in the first round, yet not tender with Olivier Bettati at the start of the campaign, is thus ready to make him benefit from a carry-over of his votes from the first round (9.61%). Enough to dismiss the 79-year-old outgoing mayor, also supported by LREM MP Alexandra Valetta-Ardisson? Sufficient in any case to annoy the UDI who decided to suspend Patrice Novelli and to transfer his support to Jean-Claude Guibal to "face the extremes".
Opponents yesterday, associated today with Théoule
At the other end of the department, on the west side, it was at Théoule-sur-Mer that the merger game reserved another surprise for the second round. The adversaries of yesterday are the partners of today. The outgoing Georges Botella (36.35%), closely followed by Emmanuelle Cennamo (36.11%) the evening of the first round, has decided to merge his list with that of Emmanuel Blanc to perhaps secure a second term (15.88%). The penultimate mayor, Daniel Mansanti, who came fourth, threw in the towel.
All against one in Saint-Paul de Vence
The union's strategy could weigh more heavily in Saint-Paul-de-Vence. In the village on a rocky outcrop, the first outgoing assistant Jean-Pierre Camilla, who came out on top in the first round (38.20%), saw his three competitors rise up against him, in the same list. Corinne Paolini (24.25%), Jean-Paul (21.1%) and Christophe Issagarre (16.41%) go hand in hand for the second round.
