  • Courts: Justice condemns the Government of Aragon for failing to supply protection material to health workers against the coronavirus

Aragon has officially notified the death of a child from coronavirus. This has been reflected in the epidemiological statistics provided this Thursday by the Ministry of Health of the Aragonese Government.

The boy, of whom hardly any data has come out, was less than 10 years old, according to the record that the regional government has recorded in his report.

Until now, this autonomous community had not declared any deceased by Covid-19 under the age of 40.

Francisco Javier Falo , director of Public Health, explained, at a press conference, that "until a few days ago we had no mortality with children under 40, but there has been one case in recent days."

And about the deceased child, he explained that "there was a prior compromised situation. Covid-19 mortality occurs infrequently in young children, but it is not impossible."

He added that "the majority of deaths are in those over 70 years of age and it increases more in those over 80 years of age".

In Aragon, of the 893 coronavirus deaths officially reported by authorities so far, 637 were over 80 years old.

Since the pandemic began, Aragon has only reported five deaths from Covid-19 among patients 40 to 49 years old, 18 between the ages of 50 and 59, and 55 of patients between 60 and 69 years. Between 70 and 79 years, it has reported 177 deaths, 342 of patients between 80 and 89 years of age, and 295 of 90 years or older.
