Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin admitted that the need to wear masks in Moscow may persist until mass vaccination against coronavirus begins. According to the mayor, this may happen in the fall.

“How long do we wear masks - will largely depend on the timing of the appearance of the mass vaccine. According to various estimates, from October to February next year. I want to believe that in October we will receive the first large batches of the vaccine, ”Sobyanin said in an interview with TASS.

Recall that on May 12, a mask regime was introduced in the capital that extended to public transport and public places.

Sobyanin also said that the city’s authorities intend to destroy all the data of the Social Monitoring application and the system of digital passes after the end of the epidemic. “Their use is only possible in emergency situations. In a normal life, this can be regarded and in essence constitutes a violation of the rights of citizens, ”the mayor noted.

In addition, Sobyanin added that the temporary hospitals for patients with COVID-19 created in the capital will remain until the mass vaccination against coronavirus.

“They will be preserved until the mass vaccination of the population as insurance against the second wave. This reserve will allow us to boldly return capital hospitals to the normal scheduled operation, which is very important, ”the Moscow Mayor said.

He said that the city health system, including outpatient and inpatient care, ambulance and emergency care, was rebuilt to combat coronavirus. The mayor noted that this did not prevent him from fulfilling the tasks of planned care, including for oncological diseases.

Sobyanin pointed out that the pandemic revealed the strengths of the metropolitan healthcare system.

“Of course, there is nothing perfect, but everything is relative. Compared to many developed countries and cities, Moscow medicine has proved itself to be very worthy, ”concluded the mayor.
