Ultimate straight line. While the candidates for the second round of municipal elections on June 28 had until 6 p.m. Tuesday to submit their lists, the campaign can now resume. And this, in an unprecedented context where more than a hundred days separate the first and the second round of this election shaken by the coronavirus crisis. In Paris, the socialists and the Greens sealed a coalition agreement, but what about the other cities of Ile-de-France?

If the mayors of Boulogne-Billancourt, Montreuil, Issy-les-Moulineaux or Aulnay-sous-Bois were re-elected in the first round, other outgoing mayors are less sure of keeping their seats. Alliances, issues, negotiations and disappointments, 20 Minutes takes stock of the hot spots of the second round in Ile-de-France.

Saint-Denis (Seine-Saint-Denis)

Spectacular turn of events. A time envisaged and practically realized, the union between the outgoing mayor of Saint-Denis, Laurent Russier (PCF) and the candidate of France Insoumise, Bally Bagayoko, will not be made finally and the latter does not file a list. Enough to offer a winning ticket to the socialist candidate, Mathieu Hanotin, who won the first round with 35.3% of the vote. The latter could also benefit from part of the votes of the candidate LREM, who did not manage to qualify. One thing is certain: another parameter will also be closely scrutinized during the second round, that of abstention. In this city of 111,000 inhabitants, the first round was marked by record abstention of almost 70%.

Mantes-la-Ville (Yvelines)

A symbol. The only city held by the National Rally in the region, this commune of Yvelines had experienced a quadrangular in 2014. A scenario that will not be the same this year. In recent days, the candidate supported by the Greens and the PS Amitis Messdaghi, who came third in the first round (17.85%), has withdrawn from the race to block the RN, as did on March 16 the other candidate from the left, Romain Carbonne (14.82%). And this with the only voting instruction: beat the RN duThe outgoing mayor, Cyril Nauth arrived at the head of the first round with 33.72% of the votes. He will be in a duel with the candidate supported by LREM, Sami Damergy (27.22%).

Saint-Ouen (Seine-Saint-Denis)

The disunited left. In Saint-Ouen, where the outgoing mayor, William Delannoy (UDI) came out on top in the first round with 25.65% of the vote, two lists on the left face each other and hope for alternation. On one side is Karim Bouamrane (PS, EELV) and on the other, Denis Vemclefs who has made an alliance with the former mayor of the city, Jacqueline Rouillon for a list supported by the PCF and LFI. But will this division between the left lead them to their loss? The figures for the first round promise some suspense.

Levallois (Hauts-de-Seine)

Shadows hover. Despite their conviction at the end of May to 5 and 4 years in prison for laundering tax fraud, Patrick and Isabelle Balkany still intend to weigh in their own way on the fate of Levallois. In the town, where three lists compete, the outgoing team, led by Agnès Pottier-Dumas (LR-UDI) is violently repudiated by the Balkanys. Patrick Balkany even threatens to call to vote Arnaud de Courson (DVD), his sworn enemy, who came second in the first round and who made an alliance with the LREM candidate, Maud Bregeon, while strongly rejecting the patronage of the former mayor. "The rally I agree, but it is around Patrick Balkany I am much less," insisted Maud Bregeon. In addition, this alliance received the support of Edouard Philippe in person in order to create "an alternative" to the "Balkany system".

And also: Suresnes, Colombes, Aubervilliers, Argenteuil

The final stretch of the municipal could still hold its share of surprises and emotions. In Colombes, the LREM candidate in the first round, former deputy mayor, finally returned to the outgoing mayor (LR). No happy ending, however, in Suresnes, where no alliance has been found. In Aubervilliers, two lists on the left will face a list on the right which came first in the first round. Finally, at Argenteuil, it is also a triangular that will animate the second round.
