It was at the end of May that the suspected crime scene was found by supervisors. According to the County Administrative Board in Norrbotten, scooter tracks as well as large amounts of blood and hair should be on site. However, no body should be found, but the county administrative board is sure that the wolverine has not survived.
"The amount of blood is so large that it cannot survive," says Kai Oja, a trustee on the county administrative board in Norrbotten.
According to the county administrative board, this is not the first time suspected illegal hunting of wolves in the area. During the spring winter of 2019, three similar sites were found on both sides of the border where three different wolves are suspected of having been killed illegally. Exactly how widespread it is with what is believed to be illegal hunting is hard to know, says Kai Oja.
- It happens. We are going out with this now because both we and the police want to get tips from the public.
