Saving the tourism sector, which represents around 13% of Italy's GDP, is the watchword of the government. This is why not only the borders are reopened , but in addition, there is no longer a quarantine imposed, explains the correspondent of RFI in Rome, Anne Le Nir.

Except for those who, in the 14 days preceding their arrival in Italy, went to a country like the United States or Brazil, for example, not entering on the list established by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In addition, if you are traveling by car and do not belong to the same family, only two people per vehicle will be admitted.

Obviously it will be necessary to submit to the sanitary measures in force, like the wearing of the mask in closed places and public transport. It will also be necessary to respect the conditions fixed by each country of origin for the return.

But everything is ready to welcome holidaymakers with open arms. The beaches are equipped for safe sunbathing. And most archaeological sites and museums can be visited with confidence.

The epidemic has killed 33,500 in three months in the country, which since early May has been trying to revive its economy. The cafes and terraces have reopened, as have the vast majority of monuments and tourist sites that make tourists happy every year. The health crisis "  is not over  " nevertheless warned the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, who praised the "  unity  " of his country in the face of "  the invisible enemy  ".
