The two new firefighters were shown during a ceremony on Wednesday. Both Minister of the Interior Mikael Damberg (S) and MSB's Director General Dan Eliasson were present.

The aircraft in Sweden costs the EU € 11 million in both procurement costs and maintenance. In total, eleven aircraft and six helicopters in Europe are now ready for this year's season should fires break out in the EU.

In recent years, several large forest fires have erupted in Sweden. Last year, helicopters were hired to fight the fires and the idea is that the two new firefighters will be a further reinforcement. According to Dan Eliasson, the aircraft can be decisive if new fires strike.

Hear him and Mikael Damberg tell us what the aircraft means in the clip above.
