  • The inhabitants of the city Berthe, in La Seyne-sur-Mer, will be psychologically supported after three people, including a child, were injured by pellets.
  • Police reinforcements have been deployed in this sensitive neighborhood, which has been in the sights of the authorities for more than two years.

A cursed building. For the second time in two years, a violent news item bloodied the surroundings of "L'Abricotier", the emblematic point of deal of the city Berthe, in La Seyne-sur-Mer (Var). On September 9, 2018, two adolescents aged 19 and 14 were killed during a settling of accounts. This Saturday, around 11:30 p.m., a probable intimidation shot left three lightly injured, including a seven-year-old child hit in the head by a lead. According to relatives of the file, two bands are fighting over this location: one of them tried to scare the other ... And the shooter sent on the spot with his shotgun caused three collateral victims.

"The residents of the city are shocked and traumatized," says Alexandrine Sanchez, psychologist with the Association of living with the family (AVEF). With her colleague Sylvie Le Berre, they will be running a psychological cell this Tuesday morning to help witnesses overcome this shock. "The inhabitants were already very sad because of the confinement which was complicated in small apartments", points out this psychologist who has worked for 20 years in this sensitive city.

"Prostrate kids"

"There has been an aggravation of the violence," says Manuel Prieto, director of the AVEF. In 2018, after the settling of accounts, there were many collateral victims. Kids who refused to sleep alone, who were prostrate or who began to pee in bed. Parents can also suffer: some will be taken care of for post-traumatic follow-up, with in particular hypnosis techniques, family therapy or via EMDR therapy, an intervention based on eye movements.

The mayor of La Seyne-sur-Mer, the socialist Marc Vuillemot, also wants a massive return of children to school: "National Education has confirmed that all middle school students can be accommodated in their establishment", he said. he announced this Monday. He believes that “school is a reassuring place likely to reassure families when children are idle, which can lead to deviance. "

Since the start of the deconfinement, many families refuse to send their children back to school: "Many mothers are afraid to put them back in college or school because they are diabetic, so they are afraid of catching the virus" , explains Alexandrine Sanchez.

Police reinforcements

Those who are more afraid of traffickers than Covid-19 may have been reassured by the ballet of the beacons, throughout this weekend of Pentecost, in the city. A proximity security group (GSP) was assigned on Sunday, the day after the tragedy. "These are more than police reinforcements," says deputy mayor Makki Boutekka, responsible for youth and from Berthe:

These places have been classified as a republican reconquest district, so we have obtained judicial police officers in addition, reinforcements on the ground. The investigations have advanced well, there have been an enormous number of arrests. "

But Manuel Prieto recalls that "the problem is often moved from one deal point to another". Makki Boutekka recognizes this: “We still have a job. "
