The head of the list - FRED SCHEIBER / SIPA

  • After the first round of the municipal elections, two candidates from the left were still in the running against the outgoing mayor, Jean-Luc Moudenc (LR): the ecologist Antoine Maurice (27.56%) and the socialist Nadia Pellefigue (18.53%) .
  • The negotiations between the two candidates of the left having failed, Nadia Pellefigue decided to withdraw.
  • In a video message, she regrets the failure of the negotiations, tackles some of her running mate but indicates that she does not want to be an obstacle to the rally.

"I will not be an obstacle to the gathering." In a video message posted Monday morning on social networks, the candidate of the New Energy list (PS-PRG-PCF), the socialist Nadia Pellefigue, announced that she was withdrawing her candidacy for the second round of Toulouse municipal elections.

Arrived in third position on March 15 with 18.53% behind the outgoing mayor (LR), Jean-Luc Moudenc (36.18%) and the Citizen Archipelago list (EELV-LFI) led by Antoine Maurice (27.56%) , it indicates that it did not succeed in reaching negotiations.

Results of the municipal elections in Toulouse

The socialist had offered her environmental counterpart a ticket for the second round: him at the town hall, she at the metropolis. A proposal declined by Antoine Maurice and his team. "I did not succeed in convincing of the innovative and positive character of the ticket formed by a man and a woman of a new generation at the head of the city and the metropolis", she deplores in her video message.

Tensions between running mongers

It also points to fundamental disagreements, particularly at the economic level or even on flagship projects such as the LGV. And she took the opportunity to tackle some of her running mates who made announcements at the end of last week in the press, indicating that there was "no obstacle to the rally". Tensions have indeed appeared in recent days within A New Energy, some like the socialist senator Claude Raynal, advocating the merger with Archipelago in order to reconquer the Capitol.

"I am sad to see that some have freed themselves from the collective", tackle Nadia Pellefigue, also vice-president of the Occitanie region.

But not wanting to be an "obstacle to the gathering", she indicates that tomorrow, the last day of deposit of the lists, she authorizes her fellow members to merge with the Citizen Archipelago list for those who wish it. A union list of the left was credited with 52% of the votes against Jean-Luc Moudenc in an Ifop poll for Archipel Friday.

It remains to be seen which candidates will be ready to merge. Whatever the list led by Antoine Maurice, Nadia Pellefigue wishes him "good luck".
