The USA remains the leader in the number of detected cases of COVID-19 in the world. According to Johns Hopkins University of America, the country is aware of 1.79 million cases and more than 104 thousand deaths from the effects of infection. However, in the United States at least 444 thousand people have recovered from the virus.

In second place is Brazil, where at least 514 thousand patients are ill, follows from university statistics. In this country, more than 29 thousand people died from coronavirus, and more than 206 thousand recovered.

Note that while Brazil is not among the top three countries in terms of mortality from COVID-19. The United States holds the first place in this group, the United Kingdom (over 38.5 thousand) and Italy (over 33.4 thousand) are in the second and third positions. Brazil ranks fourth in this list.

Earlier it became known that the United States will send Brazil a thousand mechanical ventilation devices (ALVs) and have already sent 2 million doses of an antimalarial drug called hydroxychloroquine.

Earlier, the head of the White House, Donald Trump, said he was taking hydroxychloroquine to prevent coronavirus infection. However, the effectiveness of this method of prevention has not been proven by doctors. This week, Trump announced that he will finish taking hydroxychloroquine.

In addition, the World Health Organization (WHO) has suspended test trials of hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine against coronavirus infection COVID-19 due to an increased risk of mortality.

We add that on May 30-31, more than 700 Russians left the United States. This was told by the Ambassador of Russia to the United States Anatoly Antonov.

“Yesterday, 322 Russian citizens, including ten babies, flew home. Three schoolchildren returned, who were here as part of some “educational exchanges” in private. In Europe, which ranks second in the total number of cases of COVID-19 in the world, the dynamics are more favorable. According to WHO, on May 31 in this part of the world identified 20 thousand new cases. The day before, there were 19.7 thousand, but on the previous day 22.6 thousand cases of COVID-19 were detected.

The leader in the region remains the United Kingdom with 272 thousand recorded cases. At the same time, the daily increase in the number of cases in the United Kingdom is declining and currently stands at 1.6 thousand people. During the pandemic, over 38 thousand people died in the country.

According to data from May 31, 416 new cases of COVID-19 were found in Italy, which was the leader in the number of cases at the early stage of the pandemic. In total, 232 thousand patients and 33 thousand deaths from coronavirus are known in this country.

Italian Ambassador to Russia Pasquale Terracciano expressed hope that the country will be ready to receive Russian tourists from June 15.

“We hope that on June 15 the borders will be opened. I hope that from June 15, the Russian leadership will also allow entry into the country, ”TASS quoted the diplomat as saying. He added that "not a single Russian tourist will go to Italy if he then has to face difficulties in returning home."

He also clarified that the Italian authorities did not intend to introduce mandatory medical certificates for vaccination against coronavirus for the entry of tourists, but the general precautions with control upon arrival will remain valid.

In Spain, there has also been a decrease in the number of cases. The country has 239 known cases of COVID-19 and 29 thousand deaths from coronavirus. At the same time, daily growth amounted to only 664 cases.

Earlier, the Spanish authorities announced their intention for the last time to extend the high alert in the country.
