01 June 2020 A computer virus campaign invests Italy in the hours when the Immuni app is about to be made available. This was announced by Agid-Cert, the government structure that deals with cybersecurity. The virus is called FuckUnicorn and spreads a ransomware (virus that takes devices hostage and then asks for a ransom) under the pretext of downloading a file called Immuni. It spreads with an email inviting you to click on a bogus site that imitates that of Fofi, the Federation of Italian Pharmacists' Orders.

Agid-Cert explains - the domain name chosen to clone the Pharmacists site is similar to the real one, with the letter "l" instead of "i" (from fofi to fofl). The ransomware downloadable from the fake site is renamed "IMMUNI.exe", once executed, displays a fake control panel with the results of Covid-19 contamination. In the meantime, the malware encrypts the files present on the victim's Windows system and renames them by assigning the extension ".fuckunicornhtrhrtjrjy". Finally, it shows the classic text file with instructions for the ransom: the payment of 300 euros in bitcoin to free the encrypted files. Cert-Agid explains that it has "already alerted the relevant sectors".

Immuni has been uploaded to the Google and Apple stores. Sources from the Ministry of Innovation confirm to Agi that the app is ready to be used, but the 'big' of the two big techs is missing. In these hours the parent companies of the iOS and Android operating systems therefore have the codes of the app, which could be available already today or in the coming days to be downloaded by everyone. The Immuni contact tracking system, they explain from the ministry, will not be immediately active. The app will probably be downloadable in the next few hours, even if it is not excluded that it may serve a few days. As emerged in recent days, its experimentation will begin on June 5 in 4 regions: Puglia, Abruzzo, Marche and Liguria. From what we learn, in the rest of Italy the app can be downloaded but the contact tracing will not work. With the publication of the app, the ball will go to the Ministry of Health which will manage the experimentation phase. The estimated time is a few weeks.
