Six-time world champion Lewis Hamilton denounced the silence of the "biggest stars" in the world of "white-dominated" Formula 1 after the death of George Floyd in the United States which led to dozens of demonstrations sometimes degenerating into riots .

"Some of you are among the biggest stars and yet you remain silent in the face of injustice," wrote the Mercedes driver on Instagram on the night of Sunday to Monday, after the May 25 death of this black man from 46 years old during his arrest in Minneapolis (Minnesota) which was condemned by many sportsmen, from Michael Jordan to Lebron James, via Serena Williams.

"No one moves a finger in my industry which is of course a white dominated sport. I am one of the only people of color there, I am still alone," added the 35-year-old British driver.

"I would have thought that you would now see why this is happening and react but you cannot stand by our side. Just know that I know who you are and that I see you," writes Hamilton again.

Reigning World Champion Says Support Only Peaceful Protesters But Adds "There Can Be No Peace Until Our So-called Leaders Bring Change, Not Just In America, But In The Kingdom" - United, Spain, Italy and everywhere else. "

"The way minorities are treated must change," he argues. "We were not born with hearts full of racism and hatred, it is those who admire us who instilled it in us."

Hamilton, champion of the protection of the environment and animal and vegan species since 2017, regularly takes a position on the subjects that are close to his heart. He had thus been the author of a remarkable outing on Instagram against intensive agriculture and animal husbandry at the end of October.
