Today, the Libyan Foreign Ministry called on the UN Security Council and human rights organizations to assume their responsibilities to target the forces of retired Major General Khalifa Hifter, who are civilians, in what amounts to "war crimes."

This came in the ministry’s statement, following the killing of 5 civilians and the injury of 12 others, including a woman, yesterday, Sunday, in a random bombardment by Haftar forces on a public park, Mansoura residential area, and a cemetery of a foreign embassy in the center of the capital, Tripoli.

The statement said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns "the strongest words" of the bombing by the Haftar militia on civilian residential areas.

The Foreign Ministry added that the bombing of the Haftar militia is also a cemetery for Christians in the Mansoura area of Tripoli, "a violation of the sanctity of the dead and all the divine laws and international laws."

She stressed that the actions of the Haftar militia "that rise to war crimes will not go unpunished for their perpetrators and bring them to international trial."

Withdrawal and centralization

On the ground, Operation "Berkane El-Fathi" announced today that the Air Force of the National Accord government forces, which is internationally recognized, targeted three armed vehicles for Haftar forces in the town of Al-Asaba, 120 km southwest of Tripoli, after the latter regained control.

On the other hand, Operation "Anger Volcano" confirmed that it had reinforced its positions with armed mechanisms and forces, in the city of Gharyan, adjacent to the town of Asaba.

"Berkan Al-Fathi" - quoting Colonel Muhammad Qanunu, spokesman for the Al-Wefaq forces - stated that instructions were issued to Al-Wefaq forces to "crush the rebels and eliminate the hotbeds of the rebellion without mercy or compassion."

And it continued, "The policy of the reconciliation government is to provide political and social solutions, and the use of force comes after the end of all peaceful solutions."

Earlier, a military source from Al-Wefaq forces told Al-Jazeera correspondent that Haftar forces regained control of the fingers by entering 25 cars carrying medium weapons under the cover of an Emirati march, which forced the Al-Wefaq forces to withdraw.

"Units of the armed forces were able to regain control of the Al-Asaba area today, after a series of air strikes on militia sites in the western mountain," Major General Ahmed al-Mesmari, a spokesman for Hifter's forces, said in a brief press statement.

Local news websites published pictures showing the Haftar forces deployed inside the town.

It is noteworthy that since the launch of the "Peace Storm" government, "Operation Storm of Peace" - supported by Turkish March aircraft at the end of last March - it has succeeded in regaining control of the strategic "Al-Wattia" air base.

This was preceded by the restoration of the cities of the western coast, so that the area - which extends from the capital west to the Ras Jdeir border crossing with Tunisia - is completely under the control of the forces of the government of reconciliation.

Forces loyal to Haftar have been waging an offensive since April of last year, in an attempt to control Tripoli, the headquarters of the al-Wefaq government, which has killed and wounded civilians, as well as extensive material damage.
