The colleges and high schools will reopen on Tuesday in France in new conditions, after more than two months without lessons. Asked at the microphone of Europe 1 Sunday, the president of the National Union of high schools and colleges Jean-Rémi Girard nevertheless believes that few students will actually return to class.

INTERVIEW

An unprecedented school year will end, with a short reopening of middle and high schools throughout France from Tuesday. This measure had been qualified as necessary by the Minister of National Education Jean-Michel Blanquer when detailing the modalities of phase 2 of the deconfinement. Guest of Europe 1 Sunday, Jean-Rémi Girard, president of the National Syndicate of High Schools and Colleges and teacher in Asnières-sur-Seine, is skeptical about the educational interest of this reopening, especially since everyone cannot be accommodated: "We don't think we will see a lot of students anyway," he said.

"Communication interest"

Compliance with health safety standards is directly invoked by the professor. According to him, high schools and colleges are not able to accommodate a large number of students. The colleges which were in the green zone, he explains, "which already welcomed the pupils of sixth and fifth" will have difficulty in ensuring the return of the fourth and third.

Jean-Rémi Girard sees above all in this measure a "communication interest" on the part of the government: "Like that, we can announce that we have reopened establishments in France, but overall it is not going to happen incredible things . "
