by Tiziana Di Giovannandrea 31 May 2020 The maximum commitment of the Farnesina Crisis Unit continues, in concert with the airlines, to bring back thousands of Italians stranded abroad.

Through the constant work of the Crisis Unit, the Embassies and Consulates, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has managed to guarantee the return to Italy of about 90,500 compatriots who have been blocked abroad due to the pandemic from COVID-19.

Overall, there are 950 operations carried out by air, land and sea, in 119 different countries. About 215 Italians returned from the United Kingdom, Belgium and Venezuela during the day, while two other flights will soon leave from Kosovo and South Africa.

Each operation guarantees total compliance with current health safety standards, with the use of medical personnel, nurses and adequate medical equipment to deal with possible cases of infection.

The whole diplomatic-consular network is at work to spread useful information to compatriots and facilitate their return.
