As the epidemic continues to decrease in France, what about the special consultations set up after confinement for patients tested positive for Covid-19, including a test and participation in the "tracing" of contact cases, and billed 55 euros? Lawyer Roland Perez takes stock.

Consultations with the general practitioner charged 55 euros instead of 25 in the event of contamination with the coronavirus: it is one of the announcements which had been made by the executive at the beginning of the deconfinement. Three weeks later, and while the epidemic seems to be receding on the territory, what about? Lawyer Roland Perez takes stock.

First of all, a clarification: the additional premium paid to doctors for reporting contact cases of their patients who tested positive, for a time envisaged, was ultimately not retained. But the amount set at 55 euros for a consultation or a teleconsultation of a Covid-19 patient is still relevant. The Health Insurance justifies this price by the consultation of information of the patient, associated with the implementation of a "therapeutic strategy".

A "complex consultation"

This increase, still according to Health Insurance, corresponds to the valuation of the announcement of the positive test, the prescription of tests for close contact cases (people residing at the patient's home), and the information given to the patient on the barrier measures. In medicine, this is called a "complex consultation", different from conventional consultations, billed at 25 euros in sector 1. This particular type of consultation was not invented during the pandemic: they have existed for many years. In addition, it is important to remember that whatever the amount, the consultation is reimbursed 100% by Social Security.
