Specialists of the Novosibirsk Scientific Center "Vector" have developed a vaccine against coronavirus infection, which can be instilled into the nose. This was told by the director general of the center Rinat Maksyutov.

He clarified that the center expects to begin clinical trials in late June - early July and complete them in September.

“Vaccines differ not only in their functional origin, but also in the method and scheme of immunization. So, one of our preparations, it does not follow the classical route of administration intramuscularly, but the route of administration is intranasal, that is, in fact, it is simply inserted into the nose, ”he said in the film Naili Asker-zade“ Dangerous virus. Vaccine "on the channel" Russia 1 ".

The head of the center clarified that additional acceleration of work on the vaccine is not required, since we must not forget about the basic principles of vaccination - do not harm or inject a useless drug.

Clinical trials of vaccines developed at the center will be conducted on volunteers aged 18 to 60 years. People who have already had a new coronavirus cannot be volunteers, Maksyutov added. A study of the effect of the coronavirus vaccine on children, if everything goes according to plan, may begin in 2021.

“We hope that our developments can be applied and protected, including the children's population. After obtaining positive results and registering the vaccine, as part of post-registration studies and independent clinical trials, we will expand the contingent both by age, that is, include the child population, include people over 60 years of age, and various other indicators, ”said Maksyutov.

The head of the Ministry of Health, Mikhail Murashko, confirmed that it is planned to begin clinical trials of the vaccine against COVID-19 in the next two weeks.

“I hope that for medical workers, I think that already in August-September, probably, the first samples will be available. We will watch in wider practice how it will show itself, ”RIA Novosti quoted the minister as saying.

Murashko recalled that resuscitation beds for patients with COVID-19 in Russia are 10% active and the healthcare system is successfully coping with the current situation. The head of the Ministry of Health indicated that, thanks to the operational development of a medical care system, it was possible to save 10 thousand lives.

In turn, the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova explained that, according to scientists, coronavirus has a small number of mutations, which gives reason to rely on the effectiveness of the vaccine.

However, Popova allowed the emergence of a second wave of incidence of COVID-19 in the autumn.

“One of the most probable development scenarios is the second wave during the rise of acute respiratory viral infections, it is quite possible that the coronavirus will rise in the autumn,” she said on the air of the Russia 1 channel.

The head of Rospotrebnadzor drew attention to the fact that if a person is ill with some kind of coronavirus, this does not mean that he can not get infected with COVID-19.

In addition, Popova appreciated the prospects of summer holidays for Russians and noted that the regions with a successful epidemiological situation will be able to send their residents to rest first. He emphasized that Muscovites will be able to rest in their subject.

“This will depend on how the epidemiological situation develops in the regions and how it will develop in those places where we are accustomed to rest. This is a good question, in my opinion, which regions will be the first to send their citizens, their residents on vacation, because you can’t send people from a hot spot or from a high epidemic rise or let them go somewhere, ”Popova said.

Recall, on May 24, the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova said that 44 out of 85 Russian regions were ready in the near future to begin the first stage of lifting the restrictions that were introduced in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the same time, in Moscow on June 1, the second stage of easing the restrictions imposed due to the coronavirus comes into force. Now, city residents will be able to go outside for walks and sports in accordance with the rules established by the mayor's office in order to avoid large crowds and the spread of COVID-19. City parks and green areas will be re-opened for visiting.
