“At the request of Mayor Keisha Bottoms and after consulting with law enforcement and emergency services, I declared an emergency in Fulton County to engage up to 500 National Guard fighters in Georgia to protect people and property in Atlanta,” the Governor of Georgia wrote on Twitter. Brian Kemp

He noted that the fighters of the National Guard will go on patrol immediately, "to help local law enforcement agencies that work tirelessly to suppress illegal activities and restore peace."
