The Humanitarian Coordinator in Yemen, Lisa Grande, reported that the Corona virus is spreading all over the country without deterrence or reducing its severity, while the death of about twenty doctors has been epidemic.

In a statement issued by Grandi, she added, "A tragedy is evident in Yemen, and it is impossible to know the exact number of the injured without sufficient capabilities to conduct the tests, and all we know is that hospitals are being forced to return the injured, and there is a shortage of everything."

According to the statement, preliminary reports from the intensive care units indicate that the death rate reaches about 20% of injuries, compared to the global average of 7%.

Twenty Yemeni doctors have died of the Corona virus since the country registered its first infection on April 10.

The assistant undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, Abdul Raqeeb Al-Haidari, said in a post on Facebook on Friday that 19 doctors from different governorates of Yemen died while facing the virus.

Later, local sources in the governorate of Abyan (South) told Anadolu Agency that a pediatrician had died of the virus.

Al-Haidari explained in his post that a number of doctors have contracted the virus and are still receiving treatment, while others have recovered. He called on the concerned authorities to provide the Ministry with the data of the injured or dead workers in the health sector.

And the internationally recognized legitimate government announced that 283 cases of corona were recorded in the country, including 65 deaths and 11 recoveries, as of Friday evening.

Senior officials from several United Nations agencies have appealed to the international community to provide urgent international financial support to Yemen, and in a joint statement expressed their concern about the situation, saying that "time is running out of us."
