France, the United Kingdom and Germany "regret" the US decision to end key waivers for Iranian civilian nuclear projects that offered "guarantees" on the "peaceful" nature of Tehran's program. A decision that could cause tensions between Washington and other capitals.

The Berlin, London and Paris declaration was co-signed by the European Union's chief diplomat, Josep Borrell. Iran's civilian nuclear projects have so far escaped American sanctions, which Donald Trump decreed 2 years ago, despite the disagreement of the Europeans. They consider that the civilian projects "  serve the interests of all in the field of non-proliferation and offer the international community guarantees  " on "  the exclusively peaceful nature ... of Iran's nuclear activities  ".

Germany, France and Great Britain, co-signers with Russia and China of the 2015 nuclear agreement, are currently consulting their partners "in  order to assess the consequences of the recent American decision  ". The fear is that Washington will attack and punish any country still involved in Iranian civil nuclear power, in this case Russia.

The American decision to complete its withdrawal from the Iranian nuclear agreement and which the Europeans regret, follows the gradual emancipation of Tehran from commitments taken in response to the unilateral withdrawal of the United States and above all the re-establishment of economic sanctions against the Islamic Republic.
