Sun, authorized access to the sea ... and therefore perhaps for some people the desire to set sail which is increasing. But be careful! Last week, during the weekend of the Ascension Bridge, the SNSM (National Society for Sea Rescue) was not idle. Rescuers at sea had to intervene 88 times, including 47 rescues on the Atlantic coast alone, with two deaths ... So this Pentecost weekend, Emmanuel de Oliveira, president of the SNSM, calls on Europe 1 all those who wish to weigh anchor to greater vigilance.

Check your equipment, geolocate

"I think we will have a lot of interventions during the Pentecost weekend, because the weather is forecast to be splendid and after this period of confinement, the boats have not turned for several months. However when we do not check not carefully his boat before setting off, small breakdowns can occur ", recalls Emmanuel de Oliveira.

The president of the SNSM thus gives some simple advices: "Check your material, have on you a means of communication, a radio, and if possible a means of geolocation", he asks. "We of course call for caution: it is too silly to die at sea on a beautiful sunny day while having fun. Do not put yourself in danger!"
