  • United States - Third day of race protests in Minneapolis following the death of George Floyd at the hands of the police: a police station engulfed in flames

Twitter pointed to a message from US President Donald Trump about the Minneapolis protests, considering that it "advocates violence" and although he assured that the tweet violates its rules, the social network decided to keep it visible.

"This tweet violated Twitter's rules regarding advocating violence. However, Twitter determined that it may be in the public interest that such tweet remain accessible," the social network explained.

"When the looting begins, the shooting begins," Trump wrote in a message that can be understood as an incitement to law enforcement to fire their weapons.

During the racial unrest in Minneapolis on Thursday night a group of protesters set fire to a police station. It was the third consecutive night of protests against the police, responsible for the death of a young black man. George Floyd's death has sparked a wave of outrage following a series of deaths in the African American community in police interventions.

This is Trump's latest encounter with Twitter. Several days ago the social network denied several messages from Trump, questioning its veracity, in which the President of the United States assured that the vote by mail was fraudulent.

Yesterday, the White House tenant signed an executive order directed at social media companies that, he explained, aims to " defend freedom of expression from one of the greatest dangers the United States has ever faced."

The president also insisted that he would "close" the social network "if that were legal."

"A small group of social media monopolies control a large part of private and public communications in the United States," the magnate said before pointing out that "they have the power to censor, restrict, edit and alter any type of communication between private citizens and large audiences. "

The measure tries to cut the power of social networks by reinterpreting a law that dates back to 1996 and that protects websites and technology companies from being sued,
