The family had been assigned to Staffanstorp municipality who rented an apartment in Malmö where the family was allowed to live.

When the establishment period was over and the lease expired, the family turned to the Municipality of Staffanstorp and sought help with a new home.

Then Staffanstorp said no and asked the family to turn to Malmö city instead.

Cancels the administrative court's decision

Now the District Court of Gothenburg gives the Municipality of Staffanstorp the right, after the lower body, the Administrative Court, previously determined that the responsibility lay with Staffanstorp.

The Court of Appeal believes that the family had lived in Malmö for a long time before the application and that both children and parents studied in Malmö. Therefore, the family has a stronger connection to Malmö, according to the House of Commons.

- Then it follows from the Social Services Act that the municipality of Malmö is a resident municipality and responsible for giving the family the support that the law can entitle to, says Gertrud Forkman, Chamber of Deputies, in a press release.
