Galeries Lafayette will reopen this Saturday morning following the green light from the police headquarters, the Paris department store announced on Friday. This decision follows a decree Friday from the Paris prefecture of police repealing that of May 13 which had ordered the closure to the public of Galeries Lafayette Haussmann, "in order to prevent the spread" of the coronavirus.

The prefect of police explains that he made his decision in view of "the favorable development of the health situation in Paris and in the Paris agglomeration", the epidemic, which caused the death of 28,662 people in France, retreating day after day according to the latest statistics. The same decree, also dated Friday, authorizes the reopening of the Italie 2 shopping center in Paris.

Reopening from 11 a.m.

The department store, like many other large shopping centers in Paris, had been closed in application of a government decision preventing the reopening of sites of more than 40,000 m² in the Paris region, due to persistent health risks, despite the deconfinement started on May 11 in France.

In a press release, Galeries Lafayette said that their flagship store on Boulevard Haussmann will therefore reopen on Saturday at 11 am, "in strict compliance with health measures and physical distance." "The number of customers will be limited and the flow of visitors organized with separate entrances and exits, ensuring a ratio of one person per 10 m2", specifies the department store.
