Many people took the chance to make the last race of the season on the slopes and it was late in several ways. On the one hand, the hill was open until half past one on Wednesday night, and on the other, it has never been possible to go downhill at the end of May in Luossabacken.

The reason, of course, is the huge amount of snow that has fallen during the past winter. As recently as just a few weeks ago, the staff had to plow snow to keep the lift running.

"The wind has also been favorable and has mostly been in such a way that the snow has blown to the hill, and not from, which is normal," says Tony Franz, head of Luossabacken.

But now skiing is definitely over in slope slopes on Luossavaara, because at some point even a record-long winter must end.
