The Directorate General of Health (DGS) announced Wednesday, May 27 in a statement that 66 new people had died in 24 hours from Covid-19, bringing the total number of deaths in France to 28,596.

The DGS also indicates that the number of people hospitalized, especially in intensive care, continues to decrease.

The number of people hospitalized for Covid-19 infection fell to 15,680, 584 fewer than Tuesday. Resuscitation services treated 1,501 patients with Covid-19 on Wednesday, 54 fewer than the previous day.

Almost three-quarters of patients in four regions

Four regions (Île-de-France, Grand-Est, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Hauts-de-France) account for 73% of patients hospitalized in intensive care.

Since the start of the epidemic, 101,017 people have been hospitalized in the country, including 17,839 in intensive care.

According to the report published Wednesday, 66,584 people returned to their homes, healed.
