LASK Linz lost its position as leader of the Austrian championship on Thursday, downgraded to second place in the ranking for violating health regulations and prematurely resuming training in full force.

A few days before the resumption of matches scheduled for June 2, the club was sanctioned by the authorities of the League with a withdrawal of six points and a fine of 75,000 euros. LASK, trained by French Valérien Ismäel, has announced that it intends to appeal.

It was a video without their knowledge filming the training of players that sparked the case: according to the bands that reached the League, the Lask trained four times in full strength at a time when only groups of six players maximum were allowed to control the spread of the new coronavirus.

RB Salzburg, six-time champion who was three points behind the Linz club, thus regains the lead.

The Austrian Bundesliga has ten more games to play this season. Matches will take place behind closed doors every three days to catch up and finish the championship the first week of July.

LASK for its part filed a burglary complaint claiming that a camera was introduced into its stadium to spy on its training sessions in April and May.
