It is noted that Sotov, who was dismissed in August 2019 from the post of administrator of the organization’s website, demanded reinstatement, payment of wage arrears from the date of dismissal and compensation for non-pecuniary damage.

The court fully satisfied the lawsuit in the first two paragraphs, and partially in the third. The amount of compensation for non-pecuniary damage was reduced from 100 thousand rubles to 7 thousand rubles.

In total, the Russian representative office of Amnesty International was obliged to pay the amount of more than 2.3 million rubles to Sotov.

Alexander Sotov has been working in a representative office in Moscow since 2012. In 2013, he moved to St. Petersburg and worked remotely.

In 2019, he had a conflict with the new leadership.

“Some publications were extremist in nature, so he (Sotov) tried to discuss this with the leadership. There were great risks, including for him personally, and he didn’t want to deal with such matters, as this went against the laws of the Russian Federation, ”said Alexander Sotov’s lawyer Larisa Naumenko in an exclusive interview with RT.

Sotov tried to find a common language with the leadership of the Russian representative office of Amnesty International, which, reportedly, did not suit his distance work. Sotov also contacted the head office in London.

But the parties did not come to reconciliation, in August 2019, Sotov was dismissed.

According to Larisa Naumenko, the dismissal was executed in violation of the law, which was the reason for going to court.

According to the writ of execution, Sotov should return to his official duties on May 25.

Amnesty International is an international non-governmental organization founded in London in 1961. According to information on its website, the organization is engaged in the struggle for human rights.

RT sent a request to the Russian representative office of Amnesty International with a request to comment on the reasons for the dismissal of Sotov, as well as the decision of the Presnensky court.
