May 23, 2020 Negotiations continue within the majority on competitions for precarious workers, while Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte looks for a summary point.

"The amendments of the Democratic Party on precarious work are clear: no to a test in presence in an emergency with incalculable risks. Moreover, we are still in an emergency is a fact: otherwise schools would not yet be closed and written tests would not be canceled from the state exam. As for the rest, our amendment is equally clear: to give certainty to the precarious workers by taking on qualifications and services, qualifying year, and final selective oral test ".

This was stated by Senator Pd Francesco Verducci, vice president of the Senate Culture and Education Commission, who added: "No amnesty but a path that enhances the quality of skills and teaching, which certainly cannot be measured with a cross-stitch quiz. It is the only way to secure the next school year, with full staff and didactic continuity to ensure the right to study for millions of students ", he concludes.

Granato (M5S): merit remains central
"The line of the 5 Star Movement on the school and on competitions in particular, does not change. Merit remains the central and essential element for accessing the role of teacher. However, we welcome the words of the group leader of the Democratic Party Andrea Marcucci, who declares that he does not want to renounce merit and selection ". This was stated by Bianca Laura Granato, M5S group leader in the Senate Education Committee.

"On this basis - he adds - it is possible to find an agreement, provided that the selection is truly meritocratic and that messy solutions are avoided. We remain open to dialogue and discussion, but unavailable to derogate from these principles".

Ronzulli, FI: precarious workers stabilize
"Instead of wasting time fighting over a competition reserved for precarious teachers who have already been working for several years, the government stabilizes them immediately, because they must be in class from September 1. Our children because of this emergency has already wasted too much time ". Licia Ronzulli, vice president of the Forza Italia group in the Senate, said this in a statement to Tg3.

De Petris (Mixed): Conte finds a solution
"The mediation on the school that Premier Conte has pledged to present cannot be based on equilibrium between political forces", says Senator Leu Loredana De Petris, president of the Mixed group. "Respect for precarious workers, who in recent years have kept the school system in place, must be guaranteed - continues De Petris. We must give certainty to students and families. It must be certain that the school will start again on September 1st with the teachers at their place. The competition, not counting the health risks involved, does not guarantee this certainty at all. "
